iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy S7: Who’s the Flagship King?
Apple and Samsung are the two top mobile manufacturers in the world and are the ultimate rivals in the smartphone industry. Having a history of legal battles, both the companies constantly try to stay ahead of one another by introducing path-breaking technologies in the smartphone space. There have been many instances when the companies have accused each other of copying designs and other elements from their flagships.
Samsung recently unveiled its latest flagship Galaxy S7 at the MWC 2016 and brought some really major updates. Meanwhile, Apple introduced the latest iPhone 6s with the iPhone 6s Plus and brought major changes to its iPhone lineup. The Galaxy and the iPhone flagships come at similar prices, which is why it becomes hard for people to choose between them.
Well, here’s a brief comparison to help you make the hardest choice in the smartphone market.
Design and Build
The iPhone 6s kept the same look as its predecessor, and so did the Galaxy S7. Both the phones come with metal bodies and glass screens. The iPhone 6s offers more color options that the S7, but the S7 comes with a reduced camera bump now. Also, the S7 is IP68 certified waterproof and dust-proof and can be submerged in water for up to 20 minutes. The iPhone 6s is a bit thinner and lighter than the S7, but only by a few mm and grams.
Display and Battery
The iPhone 6s gets a 4.7-inch display, while the S7 features a 5.1-inches screen. Also, the S7’s display gets a 2560×1440 resolution with 577 ppi of pixel density, whereas the iPhone gets a resolution of 1334×750 pixels and pixel density of 326ppi. So of course, the S7’s screen is much better and brighter than the 6s’, but the iPhone offers a pressure-sensitive 3D Touch screen that the S7 does not.
The iPhone 6s gets a very small 1715 mAh battery, while the S7 flaunts a 3000mAh pack. Of course, the battery life depends on the software and hardware and how they use energy.
Cameras
Samsung and Apple both have been able to provide a major upgrade to the cameras in their latest flagships. The S7’s camera bump has been reduced to a great extent due to a new lens. Both the S7 and the 6s get 12MP rear and 5MP front cameras. However, the rear camera in the S7 gets a f/1.7 aperture as compared to the f/2.2 aperture in the iPhone 6s. So low-light photography is much better in the S7. Also, focusing is faster in the S7.
Other Features
The Galaxy S7 comes with wireless charging and fast charging, while the iPhone 6s does not. Both phones get fingerprint sensors and NFC to support Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
Verdict
Which phone should you choose between the iPhone 6s and the Galaxy S7? Well, it depends on which software you want. If you love Android, then there’s no place for the 6s. And if you like the simplicity and greater security of the iOS, then the S7 should be left out of the sight.
But then again, both the phones have their own fans. The Galaxy S7 gets a better display, better camera, and almost better everything along with more RAM. However, iPhone fans will still stick with the iPhone 6s due to its simplicity and the habit of not boasting about its specs but sticking to the basics.
